The issues related to the intensification of heat and mass transfer processes under the action of an external elec- tric field are discussed. Homogeneous liquids under study are subdivided into two classes - ideal and real dielectrics, or weakly conductive ones. Also, heterogeneous systems were investigated, in which, we studied the heat transfer in the media where the relaxation time of the dispersion phase is less than the relaxation time of the confined phase. With re- spect to the phase separation process, the times of relaxation of phases are arbitrary; however, the confined phase should be dielectrical or weakly conductive. Then, some aspects of electrization of weakly conductive liquids and con- vection phenomena in them were analyzed, which depend on the inhomogeneity of the medium and can be characte- rized by the time of the electric relaxation (thermal, mechanical or induced by an electric field itself). For all the cases, a wide range of experimental data on the heat and mass transfer related to the processes of condensation at the corona discharge and electrical purification were systematized and generalized. In addition, the process of the heat transfer from the heated surface to the magnetic liquid was investigated, and the results are presented. It is stated that many processes can be physically treated using the concept of the corona discharge.
