Dependence of Corona Discharge Characteristics on Pressure

Semi-empirical dependencies of parameters A(p) and Uc(p) of the current-voltage characteristics of corona discharge on pressure in the range 0.5–2.0 MPa at T = 293 K for helium and 0.4–0.7 MPa at T = 473 K for nitrogen are obtained on the base of statistical treatment of experimental data and theoretical presumptions. The parameter A(p) decreases inversely with pressure for helium while the similar dependence for nitrogen has a minimum. Its physical nature is a subject for future investigations.
