The paper analyses the composition of Co-W alloy coatings deposited from a citrate-pyrophosphate electrolyte, proposed by us, and the effect of surfactants on the quality, morphology and properties of the coatings obtained. A high corrosion resistance of the alloys of the order of 10-5 Acm-2 in chloride solution and of the order of 10-3 A×cm-2 in 6.0 M KOH has been shown. The electrocatalytic activity in the reduction reaction of hydrogen in an alkaline medium has been studied, and a considerable decrease in hydrogen overpotential as compared with that of pure cobalt has been established.
