Rezumat
The paper deals with the background of the developments in electrochemistry and electrochemical technolo- gies in Moldova. Specific examples are given to demonstrate that the idea of Aleksandr Naumovich Frumkin regarding the necessity to widen the notion “electrochemistry” can be used to describe the of process of emerging the respective Moldovan scientific schools and directions of investigations. The contribution of electrochemists from Moldova into the global electrochemical research area is illustrated by the results obtained. In addition, the state-of-the-art of electro- chemical technologies in the Republic of Moldova is discussed.
