The results of experimental and theoretical studies of creation of experimental calculation methods for determining the magnitude of a distributed external load acting on a wire during electrical discharge machining of certain groups of steels and hard alloys are presented. The reliability of the obtained results, operability of equations and models are confirmed experimentally. Their usage for designing a technological process allows to calculate the true shape of a wire electrode and, thus, to offer a machining technology and the corresponding machine drives trajectory.
