The article presents the results of the development of a high current nanosecond discharge module above the liquid surface (distilled water and ethyl alcohol solution). The electrical and optical characteristics of the discharge were examined. The conditions for the discharge ignition above fluids on the base of ethyl alcohol and distilled water, and of the discharge between the metal (blade) and the liquid electrode were defined. These discharges are of interest for use in water purification systems (purification of the water surface from the organic films) and the synthesis of nanoparticles (carbon).

Keywords: nanosecond discharge, water, alcohol.
