An ultraviolet irradiation power decrease of a powerful amalgam low pressure discharge lamps with protective coatings of mixed composition of spinels and oxides has been investigated experimentally. It is shown that such coatings have good protective properties at a low pressure of the mixture of buffer gases and can provide useful lifetime of such lamps, which is comparable to that of the lamps with the best oxide coatings.
