Abstract
The study has been carried out of physical processes on the surfaces of dielectric and composite materials un- der the action of an electric discharge in various gases. It is shown that under the action of an electric discharge the ma- terial surface can consierably change its properties, with the degree of change depending on the composition of the gas medium in which the discharge is carried out. The investigation has experimentally demonstrated that decomposition products of SF6, exposed to an electric discharge, generate the most active medium in the closed volume, having essen- tial influence on the contacting materials surfaces, thus changing their chemical properties.
